コンテンポラリーアートギャラリーZoneは、「みのお瀧道・四季のまつり秋」のイベントの一環として、2009年から2011年まで明治の森国定公園で、毎年現代アートを紹介してきました。「橋本亭まるごと美術館｣、｢瀧道まるごと美術館」そして一昨年は「箕面の森アートウォーク2011」と、展覧会名を変えながらも、３年間継続して開催してきましたが、昨年は、諸般の事情により開催することができませんでした。今年は、「箕面の森アートウォーク2013」として7月17日から27日の11日間、箕面駅から大滝にいたる滝道周辺の公共施設や店舗、龍安寺前広場、大滝前などで現代アートを紹介いたします。

箕面は、古くから大滝ともみじの紅葉で知られ、年間200万人もの人々が訪れる北摂屈指の観光地です。アートウォークが開かれる滝道には、1350年もの長い歴史があります。古くは、658年、役行者が大滝のもとで修行をしたと言われています。以来、滝道は人々の往来が頻繁にあり、また、勝尾寺、瀧安寺など歴史的な建造物もあり、もはや箕面はまったくの原生的自然ではなくなっています。人間の営為が加わった自然なのです。つまり、文化的、歴史的な意味を担った自然（二次的自然）と言えます。そうした長い歴史に支えられ、人間と自然の豊かな関係において拓かれた滝道に美術作品を設置することは、美術の視点に置いても、観光の視点においても意義のあることです。

近年、観光地ではニューツーリズムとして、新たな観光分野が創出されています。エコツーリズム、グリーンツーリズム、アートツーリズムなど、これらの新しい分野に通底しているのは地域独自の魅力を生かした地域密着型・体験型・交流型観光を目指していることです。観光事業のあり方は、風景や景観の美しさに価値をおくことから文化や歴史的背景に価値をおく、持続可能な観光へと方向転換しつつあります。私たちが目指すアートのあり方と新しい観光事業の動きとが、まったく符号するのです。
イベント会場としての滝道は、近年よく芸術祭が催されている過疎地、観光地と異なり、ビジネスが衰退しているわけでも、再生を必要としているわけでもありません。私たちは、そういった町興し的な視点ではなく、年間２００万人もの人々が訪れるこの観光地で来訪者に現代アートに触れていただき、箕面の風景や景観の美しさはもちろんのこと、その背景にある箕面の文化をアーティストの視点で、明治の森国定公園を紹介したいのです。
　
しかしながら、｢場｣としての滝道は、よく知られた観光地であり国定公園であるがゆえに、作品の展示およびパフォーマンスのための｢場｣は予め用意されていないのです。アーティスト自らが店主(オーナー)や管理者にプレゼンテーションを行い、会場獲得に努めなければなりません。参加アーティストは、多くの観客に恵まれていますが、多くの制約の下、作品を制作しなければなりません。そのためにアーティストは、より高い力量とより完成度の高い作品が求められます。

本イベントでは、関西を中心に活躍している現代アーティストを招待し、箕面の自然・歴史的建造物・史話・施設などをテーマにしたサイトスペシフィックなアート作品を阪急箕面駅から大滝に至る滝道沿いやその周辺の施設や店舗などに、設置します。また、サイトスペシフィックなダンスパフォーマンスや、夏休みのお子様にも楽しんでいただけるワークショップなども企画しています。サイトスペシフィックアートは、文字通り設置される環境や文化、歴史そしてそこに関わる地域の人々の生活を反映した作品を指します。その地域の人々の生活に密着し、現代アートの仕掛けによって来訪者（観光客・観客）が箕面の歴史、文化（風土）とかかわり、風景の再発見に繋がる、そういったアートツーリズムを企図しています。

人々の意識は、一昨年の箕面の森アートウォーク2011のテーマ「接点｣から今年のテーマ「つながる視点」へと大きく拡がりを見せています。地元の方々の理解と協力を得ることにより、点がつながりより大きなネットワークが形成されています。滝道という舞台で新しい箕面の物語が語られようとしています。

Minoh no Mori Artwalk features site specific art work, performances, and workshops, collaborating on the exhibition space with the cafes, restaurants, and public and private facilities along the Minoh Takimichi (path to waterfall).

The site specific art work, whose themes relate to nature, historical buildings, facilities and historical anecdotes or stories of Minoh, will be installed along the Takimichi (path to waterfall) to Otaki (great water fall) from the Hankyu railway station.
The artists are required to create site specific artwork, which is artwork created to exist on particular site along the Takimichi. The artist takes the location into account while planning and creating the artwork: its environment, exhibition space of the facility, history of Minoh and the life of the local people.

The artists are required to find their own exhibition space. Exhibition space for art work and performances are not arranged beforehand. The artists themselves have to negotiate over the space with shop owners or administrators to present their exhibition idea. This is a great opportunity for not only visitors, but also, the local people to get exposed to contemporary art.

Minoh no Mori Artwalk 2013 is different from other recently held art events in various areas in Japan. It is not held in order to be a part of the Machiokoshi (to activate the economy and culture of a district). Minoh, a quasi national park, is a famed tourist spot for its waterfall and its beautiful autumn leaves where nearly a million people visit each year to enjoy it throughout the year. Our intent for this art event is for the visitors to have more opportunities to be exposed to contemporary art, to understand it, and appreciate it. More new attractive aspects of Minoh through art work, not waterfall, or autumn leaves, will be presented through this event in collaboration with Minoh, a quasi national park.

The Festival will be broadcast to the world in Japanese and in English via various media (facebook, homepage, guidebook, pamphlet and poster)
